Pretty good
I liked the song overall, but I kind of wonder what you were going for. If you are wanting a club like dance trance, then I think you need some longer sections with just the drums. I think it has pretty good potential to be better, so I'd encourage you to come back to it at some point, even if it isn't for a while ;)
Pretty darn neat!
Really great! I'd love to see a version of this with an ethereal sounding piano instead of that whiny whistle (around :55). Same with the instrument at about 2:00 until the beginning of the finale, maybe like a rhythm guitar or something. Great song!
now that you mention it, that whistle does sound kinda whiny
at the time it sounded ok O_O
thanks again for the review, 9, and your time in listening!!
Nicely done!
I actually really like this one Ballin. The composition is pretty good, and with a little bit more depth on the instruments and maybe variation with the percussion this could definitely be a great original battle theme! Lots of potential when it breaks down at 1:26, so don't be too quick to shove this aside. Keep working on it!
thanks!! i'm glad you liked this one. i didnt think it would actulally be good, but after i posted it here, a few more listens, and i was happy with the way it turned out. i will definatly have to work more on this one some time in the future. thanks for your words. they mean alot
thanks again for the review, the 9 and your time in listening!!
Interesting Take...
Definitely a strange take on the song. I like the composition of the song overall, but the main guitar is a little plain (needs a little ghostly reverb IMO). Love the bassline on this one. Like Noiz said, you've done better. ;)
8/10 and 4/5
thanks
yea, again, old remix. it was my first time using FL slayer (the guitar thingy on FL). i was still getting used to it. i could sounded better.
the thing i like most about this song *(and i dont know how many ppl realize this) is that the bassline was thought up by me, makes me feel like i added some originality to it :D
anyways, enough talking in a response. thanks for the 10 and review!!. it was most appreciated
Simply Great...
Nice piece Ballin. I must say, the Intro is simply badass. Love the bell sounds and the volume work with the percussion at the beginning. Another thing is that it kept me interested all the way through, which is difficult to do for a 4:39 song of an NES tune.
If I HAD to make one criticism, I would play around with some instruments. A lot of the synths work well, but I personally had a distaste for the instrument that came in at about 1:10 (sort of a flanged synth). I would've liked to hear some short bow or pizzicato string instruments to enhance the overall genuineness.
Nonetheless, 5/5 and 10/10
thanks
the deep bell meldoy in the intro was my own originally created melody, the rest was the actual song itself.
yea, the flanged thing was a tough decision. i had another synth i was going to use in it's place, but in the end, i changed it back to that
and i had no idea it was going to turn out to be as long as it is.
but anywasy, i'm really gald you enjoyed it. thanks again for your time, the 10 and the review
Orchestra Well Done
You did a good job with this. More of a remake rather than a remix, but still good nonetheless. Would really like to see some other songs from this game with the same orchestral feeling. I remixed this song myself ;)
Thanks! I actually just took a peek at yours and I like it as well.
Nicely Done
Very good remix of Flash Man's theme...I love it! One thing this song could use is more depth by adding effects to the instruments and usually slower ambiance songs have background effects, etc.. I hope that you keep the file for this one, because trust me, if you revisit this in two years when you've learned some more quirks and techniques, you'll be surprised how much better you can make it sound.
But the composition is totally awesome. Very nicely done!
thanks for the advice
i totally forgot about the effects. i had some but i didnt even think about going to use them
i'll remember that
thanks again for review and 8!!
Could use some work, but good!
I like it overall. I think I read on one of your comments that you use the trial version of FL? One thing that I think would improve all of your songs greatly is use of general mastering with the Multiband Compressor and/or parametric equilizer plug-ins (which are in the trial version of FL). If you want to know what settings I'd suggest, message me. It'd really punch up your songs a lot.
Also, one thing you can do is find an older trial version of FL (v3.0) and sequence the song in that, because the older versions allow you to save your work. The newer trial can still open the older FL files, so all you have to is modify instruments. It's sort of a workaround the "no-save" feature of the new FL Studio without having to buy the real deal.
Thanks for the review! Yeah, I definitely see your point. I made all these ff6 tracks this summer, so it's a little late for these ones, but I definitely have learned a few things about equalizing and stereo separation since then, though I still don't think I have much of an ear for the whole equalizing thing, but the stereo separation thing I think I've got the hang of.
Maybe I'll go back and see if I can redo a few...
Thanks for the advice on the workaround for FL saving!
I do mostly video game remixes found in the Audio Portal. If anyone has suggestions or requests for a song from a particular game, shoot me a PM, I just might make it! ;)
